Custom PET PORTRAITS by Susie Signorino

Welcome and thank you for visiting my page!

I have been painting pet portraits, off and on, for many years. I paint in acrylic paint on canvas. I am a huge animal lover and live with my 3 rescue cats. If you're interested in commissioning a portrait, see details below the pet portrait gallery.

How to get started on a commission:

1. Canvas Size and price: Choose the canvas size. Prices on form are for one pet. Additional fees for multiple pets on one canvas.

2. Photos: Send, at least, 3 clear photos. Submit close up and focused portrait shots. It's very important that the photos are high quality.

3. Deposit: Partial payment due before painting begins.

Additional information:

After your form, photos and deposit are accepted, the painting will begin. I will send an image for your approval after initial drawing is done. Excessive changes can result in additional fees. Turnaround time is generally 3-4 weeks. When the painting is finished, I will send an image to you by email. Final payment due before shipping. Shipping charges are extra and will depend on the size of the painting.

All payments are non-refundable.

Book Illustration

In 2002, I illustrated the book, May There Always Be Sunshine, for Jim Gill. We have had a great run with this book. It has been reprinted three times since its original printing. The last image is a CD cover that I illustrated for Jim. Our first collaboration.

Book recognitions include:

2015 Illinois Reads Selection

Winner of the 2002 Book Award from the Philadelphia Children’s Museum

In January 2021 the Chicago Symphony Orchestra asked to collaborated with us and use my images for their animated CSO for Kids series, by the Negaunee Music Institute at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They commissioned 3 more paintings.

About Me

I grew up in Michigan City, Indiana in a household of artists. My love of making art began at a very early age. I attended SAIC (the School of the Art Institute), in Chicago, graduating with a BFA in fine arts, specializing in drawing and painting. In addition, I studied metal smithing at Lill Street Arts Center for a number of years. During those years I worked full-time at the Chicago Reader Newspaper, in advertising.

In 1998 I moved back to Indiana where Columbus became my new home. I spend my days working as an art teacher for both pre-school and elementary aged children at a Montessori School where I have taught for 20 year. In the evenings and weekends is when I find time creating for myself and others.
